These patty melts are so easy to make and loaded with umami flavor. Two patties topped with Cheddar cheese and caramelized onions on sourdough bread and griddled to perfection. Featuring Culinary Genie Salt-Free Umami Mushroom Seasoning Blend and Culinary Genie Salt-Free Everyday Seasoning Blend.
Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 large onion, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons Salt-Free Umami Mushroom Seasoning Blend, divided

1 tablespoon Salt-Free Everyday Seasoning Blend, divided

1⅓ pounds 85% lean ground beef
-
8 ultra-thin Cheddar cheese slices
-
8 sourdough bread slices

3 tablespoons softened butter
Directions
In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions, 1½ teaspoons Salt-Free Umami Seasoning Blend and 1 teaspoon Salt-Free Everyday Seasoning Blend; salt as desired. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. If needed add a bit of water during cooking to help softened onions.
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine ground beef, remaining 1½ tablespoons Salt-Free Umami Mushroom Seasoning Blend and remaining 2 teaspoons Salt-Free Everyday Seasoning Blend; salt as desired. Mix until well combined. Form into 8 thin patties.
Remove onions from skillet; set aside. Wipe out skillet if needed. Increase heat on skillet to medium-high. Add patties, in batches if needed. Cook, undisturbed, until nicely browned, turn over and top each patty with cheese. Cook until internal temperature reaches 165°F on an instant-read food thermometer.
Place 2 patties on 4 slices of bread. Top with onions and remaining bread slices. Butter bread slices. Wipe out skillet and place over medium heat. Add patty melts to skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides.
