A tasty side dish as easy as the boxed mixes without
all the sodium, MSG or preservatives. Ready in under 30 minutes, this rice is
dairy-free and can easily be made gluten-free and vegetarian.
Ingredients

2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

½ cup whole wheat orzo pasta or broken up gluten-free spaghetti pasta

1 cup long-grain white rice

3 cups no salt added chicken bone broth or vegetable broth

1½ tablespoons Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend

½ teaspoon sea salt, optional
Directions
In large saucepan, heat Extra Virgin Olive Oil over medium-high heat. Add pasta; sauté 2-3 minutes or until deeply browned, but careful not to burn. Add rice; sauté 1 minute.
Stir in broth, Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend and salt, if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid is absorbed, about 15-20 minutes.
Remove from heat. Let stand 5-10 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Salt and pepper as desired.
Notes
We prefer whole wheat orzo for this recipe as it holds
up really nice, however, regular orzo pasta or broken up spaghetti pasta can be
used if you can’t find whole wheat orzo pasta.
